The Glow Guide: Pre- and Post-Facial Care
Everything you should (and shouldn’t) do to maintain your radiant results
Introduction
Facials are one of the most effective and satisfying ways to care for your skin. Whether you’re receiving a targeted treatment or indulging in a full ritual like Vistiq’s Signature Facial, what you do before and after can make all the difference in how your skin responds and glows.
To help you get the most out of your facial experience, we’ve created this simple guide to pre- and post-facial care.
Before Your Facial: Prepare Gently
1. Skip strong actives
Avoid retinol, AHAs, BHAs, or exfoliants 48 hours before your appointment. This helps prevent irritation and allows your skin to fully benefit from your facial.
2. Hydrate well
Drink plenty of water in the day(s) leading up to your facial. Hydrated skin responds better to treatment and heals more efficiently.
3. Keep your skin bare
Arrive without makeup if possible. If not, no worries—your esthetician will cleanse thoroughly before beginning.
4. Communicate your needs
Let your esthetician know if you have any sensitivities, allergies, or skin concerns so the treatment can be customized for you.
After Your Facial: Support the Glow
1. Hands off
Your skin might be extra soft and glowy—but try not to touch it. Post-facial skin is more absorbent and also more sensitive to bacteria and friction.
2. Go makeup-free
Let your skin breathe for at least 24 hours if you can. This helps prevent clogging freshly treated pores.
3. Avoid sun & steam
Skip direct sun exposure, hot showers, steam rooms, or saunas for 1–2 days. Your skin needs a break from heat and UV stress.
4. Focus on hydration
Use gentle, nourishing products like hydrating serums, facial oils, and barrier creams. Try our Vistiq Nourishing Facial Oil for post-facial comfort and glow.
5. Wait before exfoliating
Hold off on scrubs, peels, or strong actives for 3–5 days post-facial to allow your skin to recover fully.
